Onion gratin

Ingredients

300 g onions
500 g potatoes
1 tsp Dansukker Brown Sugar Dry
1 tsp butter or margarine
½ tsp salt
Large pinch white pepper
2 dl crème fraîche
3 dl cream
½ g saffron

Instructions

Shred or finely slice the onions and potatoes. Lightly fry the onion with the brown sugar. Layer the onion and potato with salt and pepper in a greased oven-proof dish. Whisk together the crème fraîche, cream and saffron and pour over the potatoes and onions. Bake at the centre of the oven at 175°C for approx. 35 minutes. Serve with cold cuts of meat such as Christmas ham, or with meatballs and sausages.
