Spicy tomato sauce

Ingredients

2 kg ripe tomatoes
1 kg apples
½ kg onion
2 red peppers
420 g Dansukker Light Syrup
200 ml wine vinegar
50 ml salt
2 tsp crushed ginger
3 tbsp paprika
¼-½ tsp cayenne pepper
2-4 clove pressed garlic

Instructions

1. Cut a slit in the tomatoes and scald them in boiling water. Remove the skin.

2. Chop the tomatoes. Peel the apples, remove the cores and cut into cubes. Peel and chop the onions. Wash the peppers, remove the cores and cut into cubes.

3. Mix tomatoes, apples, onion, pepper, light syrup, vinegar, salt, ginger, paprika , cayenne pepper and garlic in a thick-bottomed saucepan and allow to simmer for 1 hour, stirring so that the sauce does not burn.

4. Taste and add more spices if desired. Pour the sauce into freshly scalded bottles or jars. Seal the jars and refrigerate.
