Christmas marmalade

This makes a nice Christmas or leaving present, ideally with some good cheese or bread, home-made if preferred.

500 g red peppers, washed weight
350 g strawberries
200 ml apple juice concentrate
30 ml lemon juice
750 g Dansukker Jam Sugar
1 red chilli

Blanch, peel and deseed the peppers. Blend or sieve them. Blend or finely chop the strawberries. Wash, deseed and chop the chilli into very small pieces. Combine all the ingredients in a pan, and boil for 3-4 minutes. Skim thoroughly. Pour into a warm, clean jar.


Christmas tree, attractive table decoration

Cut out stars of different sizes from ordinary gingerbread biscuit (pepparkaka) dough. Bake as normal. Stick the biscuits together in the shape of a tree using a bit of cane sugar and icing between each biscuit. Decorate with silver dragées. Dust with icing sugar.


Cube sugar house

Hard icing
400 ml Dansukker Icing Sugar
1 egg white
2 pinches of vinegar

Beat the ingredients together to a firm, sturdy mixture, preferably with an electric whisp. Pour into a plastic bag and spray out.

"Glue" the sugar bits together with hard icing and build houses, castles, churches, etc.


Gingerbread lights

Form small lights out of baked gingerbread cookies. Attach with hard icing.

Icing
1 egg white
200 g Dansukker Icing Sugar
2 ml vinegar

Using an electric whisk, beat all the ingredients into a stiff mixture.


Hard icing

1 egg white
400 ml Dansukker Icing Sugar
2 pinches of vinegar

Silver or gold stars

Stir the ingredients together into hard icing in a bowl. Beat the icing with an electric whisp until smooth and firm. Shape hearts, circles etc. on greaseproof paper. Press a double-bent ribbon onto the paper and then add a bookmark. You may also decorate with small stars. Let it dry.


Iced Christmas stars and snowflakes

Iced Christmas stars and snowflakes to hang in windows or on the tree.

Icing

1 egg white
200 g Dansukker Icing Sugar
2 ml vinegar
disposable plastic piping bags
greaseproof paper

Using an electric whisk, beat all the ingredients into a stiff mixture. Place the mixture in a piping bag and spray stars and snowflakes onto a greaseproof sheet.


Snowflakes

White paper
Glue
Dansukker Sugar
Ribbon to hang up

Cut the paper into pieces of your own choice and bend into triangles. Cut a hole in the paper to turn it into snowflakes. Put glue on one side and dip this side in sugar. Next, put glue on the other side and dip it in sugar. Let the paper dry before adding a thread hole for hanging ribbons/yarns into the snowflake.


Sugar presents for the Christmas tree

Dansukker Cube Sugar and pieces of sugar • hard icing • string

"Glue" 8 sugar bits together with hard icing and attach a double-bent string at the centre. Add icing in optional colours at the joints to make it look like a present. Let the Christmas present dry before hanging it up in your Christmas tree.
