The Christmas holiday provides many opportunities to get together and mingle with a pleasant drink in the hand. A few suggestions for Christmas celebrations big and small.

Glühwein

Glühwein

8-10 glasses
Ingredients

1 bottle dry red wine
1 piece fresh ginger (about 5 cm)
2 sticks cinnamon
10 whole cloves
peel and juice of 1 untreated orange
90 g Dansukker Granulated Sugar
70 g Dansukker White Syrup


Pour the wine into a saucepan and add the ginger, cinnamon, cloves and orange.
Heat carefully on a low heat and leave to stand for at least 20 minutes.
Add the sugar and syrup. Heat carefully until the sugar has dissolved.
Serve warm.

Warm apple must

Warm apple must

4 glasses
Ingredients

800 ml apple juice
2 tsp Dansukker Vanilla Sugar
4 tbsp Dansukker Organic Light Syrup
juice of 2 lemons
1 stick cinnamon
1 tsp ground cardamom


Heat the apple juice and mix with the vanilla sugar, syrup, lemon juice and spices. Leave to stand for a while.
Serve hot or cold.

White Christmas punch

White Christmas punch

8-10 glasses
Ingredients

700 ml dry white wine
120 g Dansukker Superfine Sugar
2 pieces of dried ginger
2 pieces dried Seville orange peel
1 stick cinnamon
100 ml gin (can be omitted or substituted)


Mix the wine, sugar, ginger, bitter orange peel and cinnamon and leave to simmer for 5 minutes. Add the gin. Serve.

Classic egg toddy

Classic egg toddy

serves 10 20 minutes
Ingredients

700 ml milk
250 ml whipping cream
3 sticks cinnamon
1 tsp Dansukker Vanilla Sugar
135 g Dansukker Granulated Sugar
5 egg yolks
100-200 ml rum (optional)
5 egg whites


Combine the milk, cream and cinnamon sticks in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Remove from the heat.
Whisk the egg yolks, vanilla sugar and sugar until it has thickened, then add the milk.
Stir until thoroughly combined. Add the rum and refrigerate overnight (keeps for up to 3 days).
Before serving, whisk the egg whites into a foam and fold into the egg toddy. Serve cold.

Hot cranberry wine

Hot cranberry wine

10-12 glasses
Ingredients

70 cl red wine
70 cl cranberry juice
1 dl Dansukker Cane Sugar Granulated
1 tsp Dansukker Vanilla Sugar
4 cinnamon sticks
1 dl Cointreau


Combine all the ingredients except the liqueur in a saucepan, cover and simmer on low heat for 5 minutes. Remove the cinnamon sticks and add the liqueur. Serve.

Gingerbread coffee

Gingerbread coffee

4 glasses
Ingredients
4-8 Dansukker Cane Sugar Cubes
2 tsp gingerbread spice
4 dl strong, freshly brewed coffee
4 dl hot chocolate
2 dl whipped cream
2 gingerbread biscuits, crushed

Put the sugar cubes and spices in four coffee glasses. Add the coffee and stir until the sugar dissolves. Add the hot chocolate. Top each glass with whipped cream and sprinkle with crushed gingerbread. Serve immediately.

Mulled wine

Mulled wine

6 glasses
Ingredients

500 ml water
4 blueberry tea bags
1 small cinnamon stick
1 star anise
Juice of 1 orange
Juice of 1 lime
75 ml Dansukker Cane Syrup
35 cl red wine


Boil the water. Add the tea bags, cinnamon stick and star anise. Leave to brew for 5-6 minutes. Remove the spices and tea bags. Stir in the orange juice, lime juice and cane syrup. Stir in the wine. Warm the drink, but do not allow it to boil. Pour into four glasses or mugs and serve immediately.

Warm orange-apple punch

Warm orange-apple punch

4 glasses
Ingredients
5 dl apple juice
4 tbsp Dansukker Brown Sugar Dry
2 cinnamon sticks
3 dl blood orange juice
1 orange, ideally blood orange

Combine the apple juice, brown sugar and cinnamon sticks in a saucepan, cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove the cinnamon sticks. Add the orange juice and heat the punch. Wash and slice the oranges, then cut up the slices. Put some orange pieces in each glass and add the hot punch. Serve immediately.

Christmas coffee

Christmas coffee

4 servings
Ingredients

2 pears
150 ml Dansukker Light Syrup

90 ml fine-ground coffee
2 g ground cardamom
2 g ground coriander
800 ml water

8 cl Gammel Dansk Bitters liqueur
100 ml whipping cream
30 ml Dansukker Light Syrup


Peel, halve and core the pears. Chop them into 1 x 1 cm cubes. Mix the pears and syrup in a saucepan and boil until the pears are soft. Divide between four glasses. Place the coffee and spices in a coffee filter, or a cafetière, and make the coffee. Whip the cream until soft peaks form. Pour 20 cl Gammel Dansk Bitter into each glass and add the coffee. Top with whipped cream and drizzle with the syrup.

Winter express

Winter express

4 glasses
Ingredients

750 ml water
4 green tea bags
4 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
30-60 ml Dansukker Light Syrup
8 cl Xante pear liqueur


Boil the water in a saucepan. Add the tea bags and spices. Leave to brew for 5 minutes. Remove the spices and tea bags. Add the syrup and warm the mixture. Pour the liqueur into four glasses and pour the tea over it. Serve immediately.
